Spirituality And Health

Proverbs 14 verse 30 tells us that a calm undisturbed heart and mind is the life and health of the body but envy, jealously, and wrath are rottenness to the bones. Often times we don't realize how are spiritual lives carry over into the natural realm. Before i came to know the Lord i was about 40 pounds overweight with high blood pressure. Not to mention i did not have a sound mind. The life of sin i had been living in had quenched the light from shining on my problems. When life's challenges would come my way, anxiety and fear would grip me. Rather than turn to God and cast all my cares upon him, I would over indulge in areas that tore my health apart. Most of the time it would be over eating that would eventually lead to a gluttonous lifestyle. It was a temporary relief for me to life's issues. Eating would cause me to forget the emotional pain that stemmed from a lifestyle of disobedience to God. I was abiding in spiritual death. I had no fellowship with The Father. When i came to the realization that God had provided the true remedy to my sickness (Jesus Christ). I asked him to forgive me of my sinful habits. Suddenly the burden of sin had been lifted and eternal life had come into my spirit. Fear was replaced with peace,  love filled my heart, I knew that i had been forgiven. This was the start of my health and weight loss journey. I had to get right spiritually before i could get right physically. We must ask ourselves if there is anything in our lifestyle that doesn't line up with what Gods word says? Is there any hindrances to your walk with God? If there is it is going to affect your health. Always remember first the spiritual then the natural, this is a Kingdom principle. Psalm 139: (23-24) Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me into the way everlasting. I encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to shine some light on areas where you are falling short. I guarantee you that if you do he will reveal to you the things you need to change. The Holy Spirit is our counselor, teacher, and great guide through life's problems. This will put you one step further on the path to everlasting life. It will also usher in the healthy lifestyle and body we are all seeking. Remember discipline your self and stay strong, you are a overcomer because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
